Union Gen. Philip Sheridan Framed Cabinet Photo with Carte de Visite

The CDV has an Anthony/Brady back-mark. Photo standing in full uniform has E. & H.T. Anthony on back. Cabinet card has 'C.M.Bell photoshop' on front. When Gen. Grant assumed command of all Union armies he chose Sheridan as his new cavalry commander. Sheridan’s successful Shenandoah Valley Campaign in 1864 crushed Confederate Gen. Jubal Early’s cavalry while destroying much of the South’s food supply. Sheridan was instrumental in General Robert E. Lee’s withdrawal from Petersburg, Virginia, after which Lee would soon surrender. #244

This is a discharge paper for Captain James A. Jarboe of Company J, Tenth Regiment of West Virginia. The paper is dated May 13, 1865 at Richmond. The discharge paper is nicely matted and framed. The paper backing of the frame is torn. Included with this lot is Jarboe's obituary from December 2, 1869 as reported in the Mineral County ​#458
